Crinoid Fossil (Indian Bead) - Agaricocrinus americanus, the mushroom crinoid, is a species of extinct crinoid, known only from its fossils, which are found in the U.S. states of Indiana, Tennessee and Kentucky. They date back to the Lower Mississippian, about 345 million years ago. The crinoid stones that are found (and incorporated into my jewelry) are estimated to be at the very least TEN MILLION years old! In Appalachia, this is regarded as a very spiritual stone, deeply connected to the earth, home and the events of one's past. Known also as a survival stone, one of strength and protection.
